UCD ISOC Girls Runway Competition

Assalamualaykum,

Dear sisters of UCDISOC, you're cordially invited to participate in our Girls' Runway Competition, which will be held in conjunction with UCD Islamic Awareness Week.

Sorry if this email has reached any brothers. Please don't feel bad about it.

The competition will be held on Wednesday, 20^th February 2008 in the Islamic Cultural Centre Ireland, Clonskeagh. Early notice is given to enable sisters to prepare early! Only sisters are involved, so no worries! And its a good opportunity to meet sisters from other ISOCs in Ireland, It'll be a night to remember. inshaAllah

The objective of this event is to educate and encourage sisters to dress accordingly, blending the Irish culture into Islamic culture and to provide a healthy competition between sisters. Hopefully, the outcome of this event will be beneficial, and increase our self esteem.

This competition is between universities. Each university is given four themes, where they will battle out on the runway. The themes are;

i.                     School

ii.                   Professional/ Workplace

iii.                 Daily and going out

iv.                 Events (e.g.- marriage, Eid parties, graduation and such)

For each theme, each university must send at least one model and at most 6 models.

Six prizes will be given for the best presentation of each theme, best model and for an overall winner. The winners will be judged according to the Islamic syariah in the Irish culture, originality, makeup and runway.

The one and only rule is that every sister must cover their aurah when on the runway.

TENTATIVE

6:30- 6:45 pm: Guest arrival

6:45-7:00 pm: Opening speech by Event Manager, VP ISOC and VIP for the program

7:00- 7:20 pm: On-stage demonstration by UCD on Islamic requirement to dress, how to apply makeup and wear hijab.  

7:20-7:40 pm: Break- refreshments will be served and booth demonstration will occur, sales by those interested.

7:40-8:20pm: Runway Competition- Fashion contest! all universities battle out for the best presentation of the 4 themes.

8:20- 8:40pm: Awards and closing speech.

No registration fees will be charged. Registration will be closed on 10^th February 2008. All participating universities need to confirm their participation by then
